About our Partnership

For many years, Roger had been following the work of Quebecois guitar luthier Robin Boucher and watched his name become highly respected and praised across Canada. Feeling allured by Robin’s work, Roger and Ken traveled to NAAM in 2018 to see if they could introduce Boucher Guitars as a new product line at their partner retail store, Brickhouse Guitars. Immediately impressed by the instruments during their meet-and-greet, Roger and Ken struck a deal with Robin and began selling Boucher Guitars at the Brickhouse. It was not long before the sales started coming in — customers were tremendously impressed by the beauty, quality, and tone of Boucher’s guitars. The success of this partnership led Roger to ask Robin if he was interested in being a luthier for the SGI Collection. Together, they decided to design a custom guitar that caters specifically to contemporary fingerstyle players. With Roger’s in-depth knowledge and experience in the fingerstyle world, paired with Robin’s extraordinary talent for guitar building, the byproduct of this collaboration is sure to turn heads among fingerstyle communities across the globe.

About the Builder

Boucher Guitars was founded in 2005, with the aim to create fine musical instruments inspired by the Appalachian Mountains. A team of passionate craftsmen and luthiers – led by Boucher – works meticulously to make handcrafted, acoustic guitars with an outstanding sonority. They honour their roots by building with Picea Rubens wood, commonly known as the Adirondack’s red spruce, a rare wood that grows abundantly in their region and is known for its exceptional harmonic qualities. Boucher guitars are highly respected and admired worldwide, and praised for their extraordinary projection and unparalleled richness.

About the Boucher SGI Guitar

Though this guitar is concert size (OM), it is designed with a deep body that brings out full, robust bass tones. Wider string spacing makes it easier to produce complex chord formations and melodies. We worked closely with Boucher to select high-quality woods and focused on more contemporary voicing techniques. The guitar features our signature walnut accents and the official SGI Collection label on the inside. Within the next year, we look forward to the arrival of a Grand Auditorium built with the same attributes. Stay tuned.
