SGI PELLERIN

About our Partnership

In 2019, Roger and Ken were looking to bring more handmade, luthier-built instruments into Stonebridge Guitar’s partner retail store, Brickhouse Guitars. That year, they attended the NAAM Luthier Showcase to see if they could find a brand that met their criteria. There, they had the chance to meet Michel Pellerin, a world-renowned guitar builder that both Ken and Roger had known about for many years. While trying out Pellerin’s guitars, Roger and Ken instantly fell in love with one of his fan fret, small jumbo models, and they decided to buy it right then and there.

Over the course of the year, the friendship between Roger, Ken, and Michel continued to grow, and within a few months, conversations started to form about Pellerin Guitars being a part of the SGI Collection. Together, they decided that Michel would design five guitars per year, with the aim to make custom Pellerin guitars more financially accessible to those who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to afford a custom-built guitar.

The secret behind this desirable offering all comes down to production efficiency and minimalist design. In order to keep manufacturing time and costs down, Michel designs all five guitars exactly the same, and dresses them down with less cosmetic embellishments. His focus remains on the most important characteristics of the guitars that bring out rich tones and performance-level sound.

By partnering with Michel to produce these five exclusive guitars per year, we are aligning with our mission to make high-quality, luthier-built guitars more accessible to players who dream of having a custom-made guitar. Any musician would find it a dream to have a guitar like this.

About the SGI Pellerin Collection

All SGI Pellerin guitars come in small jumbo bodies, paying homage to Michel’s signature base model design. Each guitar features Indian rosewood back and sides, with either Engelmann spruce or cedar tops, and includes our classic walnut trimmings and official SGI Collection label on the inside. An additional unique feature to note is the extra sound port located on the top side of the guitar, which allows players to experience the sound and tone of the guitar more clearly while performing. This collection also offers both standard-fret and fanned-fret models.
